Project Accountant
The Project Accountant will be responsible for processing draw requests, maintaining various cost and budget schedules, and processing invoices related to the company’s development projects.
Responsibilities:
- Project Accounting
- Initiate and maintain accounting and reporting of development projects through the company’s project accounting system, including budgets, proposed & approved change orders, and review of actual costs from accounts payable
- Review contracts in comparison to budget
- Reconcile actual costs to Work-in-Progress in the General Ledger
- Coordinate management reporting with the development
- Draw Preparation and Coordination with Lending Institutions
- Prepare monthly construction draws for submittal to banks and other capital partners.
- Ensure the components of the project capitalization are in alignment with the budget, debt instruments, and management
- Prepare and distribute monthly draw calendar
- Project Invoice Payments and Vendor Relations
- Prepare payment vouchers for construction/development-related invoices and obtain proper approvals / ensure invoices are within the contract framework
- Review sales tax on invoices for the accuracy or accrue sales tax on invoices as needed
- Communicate with vendors regarding billing/payments and reconcile vendor statements
- Perform other duties assigned by the manager.
Education:
- B.A./B.S. degree
- 5+ years of relevant project accounting experience
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Self-starter
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, able to multi-task
- Advanced Excel skills
- Good communication skills
- Experience in real estate construction/ development projects preferred
