HM Exclusive: Coury Hospitality to manage HALL Arts Hotel in Dallas’ Arts District
HALL Group has selected lifestyle hotel management company Coury Hospitality to manage the HALL Arts Hotel in the Dallas Arts District. The partnership, effective October 22, 2024, brings Coury’s expertise in curating unmatched guest experiences to a property that has become a cultural landmark within the city.
Developed by Craig and Kathryn Hall, the co-proprietors of California’s HALL, WALT and BACA Wines, the property was designed as a destination for those enjoying the surrounding art venues. Throughout the hotel, artwork from both local and international artists underscores its connection to the vibrant Dallas Arts District. The hotel has 183 guestrooms including 19 Arts District-inspired suites, rooftop pool, contemporary art collection, fitness center and restaurant Ellie’s Restaurant & Lounge, named after Craig’s mother.
“We look forward to welcoming Coury Hospitality as the new management team for Hall Arts Hotel,” said Craig Hall, founder and chairman of HALL Group. “We have a lot of confidence in Paul and his team. The HALL Arts Hotel is a hotel that we think has a lot of character and a lot of unique soul to it. It’s got a lot of artwork and is intended to be very individualistic and very memorable, and hopefully something that guests can really enjoy their time there in a special way. You start out with the physical [structure], but then you have to have the service and all the qualities that the Coury team really puts together very well.”
The design of the HALL Arts Hotel is “phenomenal,” said Paul Coury, CEO of Coury Hospitality. “It has a very museum-esque feel to it. What we’re hoping to do with Craig’s vision is to put a little more of our touch on it from a boutique standpoint, and bring in the community even greater than it is. There are a few things we’re going to look at doing on the food and beverage side, activation side. It’s got a great platform, and our goal is just to enhance it.”
While the food and beverage activation is often “what drives the show,” Coury said that in addition to the hotel guests, his team is really able to bring the community into the hotel experience. “Everyone wants to look like a boutique hotel now. Every brand is trying to create that, but it’s not only done by design, it’s also done by the way you engage with your guests and the services and the activation. We call our employees ‘experience curators,’ because we think each person is curating an experience for you, for whomever comes in the hotel, that delivers them—a story that they go and tell somebody else. So with the art, we’re going to really lean into that. You don’t have to stay there just because you like art, that just happens to be something special, the mark or the brand story behind it.”
The hotel has several large commission pieces that are made for specific areas of the hotel by artists for which the HALL Group has high regard. “That’s one of the fun parts of developing things, to be able to share and to watch the way people respond to them,” Hall added.
Best known for its Hotel Vin in Grapevine, Texas, this collaboration further strengthens Coury Hospitality’s presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, expanding their portfolio of lifestyle hotels and restaurants. In addition to managing HALL Arts Hotel, Coury Hospitality is overseeing HALL Park Hotel, an Autograph Collection property also owned by HALL Group, which is set to open in Frisco this October. This new lifestyle hotel will have 224 rooms, including 60 suites, immersive dining experiences and luxurious amenities, continuing HALL Group’s commitment to creating world-class destinations.
